The Patrick Curran Project Family Picnic

I haven't written about the picnic yet for a few reasons. The first being that I've been working on a video to post and the other that I've just been damn busy!

I hope to have the movie up before Sunday. In the meantime...

The town of Granby, family and friends raised over $2500 on Saturday!!! I cannot believe it! It is more than wonderful. It is humbling. And it makes me so proud to live in a town like Granby.

The day was fun! People looked like they were having a great time, good food, horse rides, Flash the Clown, bounce house, music, you name it. A few members of the girls' varsity basketball team came by and donated, they helped clean up and even colored a picture at the crafts table.

We had a lovely blast from the past. This guy came up to my sister Lisa and I and introduced himself as Ben. He then showed us a picture of him and Patrick at the age of around 10 on their Chicopee basketball team. They played ball together some 20 years ago. I guess he saw the article in the paper and decided to come out and support the cause in Patrick's memory. Tears? Oh yeah, you bet! He even brought a video to loan us of them playing... we'll be watching it this weekend.

A lot of people made the day happen. Where would we be without:

Evelyn Hatch

Jenn Moreau & family

Flash

The Foley Family

Brian Goulet

Ginger Bey

Lisa Page

Billy Duxbury

Connie Moreau

Donna Koske

our immediate family members, support from the town and the schools? There are too many friends to name, but all of their support from hanging posters to making calls to telling friends and family to come out and spend $10 on a ticket is what made it happen. And so we thank each and every one of you from the very bottom of our hearts.

For us, its not just about buying team jackets or supporting the basketball teams. Its about legacy, its about carrying on the work that Patrick had started and its about keeping his memory alive and his spirit a part of our every day lives. That people show up and care with us is affirmation that we are doing what we should and in a way that makes sense. In short, it means a lot more than I can try to say here.

For all of that, thank you. (Stay tuned for that movie... I promise its coming!!)
