The Party and The Project

150 people came. Not people, friends. Friends of Pat's. It was wonderful. It truly was. I think a good percentage of Granby folks were feeling pretty rough around the edges today! It was really a special night and I think that the folks who came really felt like they were a part of something. And they are. They are the ones who get to carry Patrick's name on. They're the ones who complete the whole picture of who Patrick was and what he meant to so many. When you put all that into one room and lots of Irish cheer... well hell you can't really go wrong can you?

We announced something there that I can share with you finally. We have started a donation fund in Patrick's name: The Patrick J Curran Donation Fund at Florence Savings Bank. With this fund we are buying team jackets/hoodies (apparently they don't wear jackets anymore?) for the boys basketball teams in Granby. We would like to be able to expand and include the girls' teams, but for now we are starting small with the hopes of really growing this. I've been referring to it as Patrick's Project, but there isn't an official name just yet. Dad is serving as a sort of treasurer. I hates dealing with money.

In fact, last night we announced this and right after I said "This isn't a fundraiser." Annie decided to pass a hat and we raised another $100. You know, people live in small towns for lots of reasons. This is just another to add to the list. How awesome was that?

The hoodies are beautiful! We have looked at several kinds and found one we like. Belchertown Sports Shed has agreed to give us a break and not charge for the graphic setup which is fantastic.

They will have a very small shamrock on them with Pat's number 11 inside.

There are other great things in the works, I'll post here as plans become more firm.
