Fluid behind an ear drum

Note that the ear drum looks like a big, squishy, jelly filled pillow? Yeah, that's not cool. JP's was filled up like this - but his fluid wasn't clear. It was pretty nasty I guess. Pus and gunk in his which is why his hearing was affected so badly. With the pressure from the fluid, his eardrums couldn't vibrate and send the sound into the inner ear.
