May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

A wee blessing for you

There is a debate among the Irish about this holiday. Some say that it serves to propagate negative stereotypes about the Irish. That people just use this as an excuse to get drunk and drink green beer, that it has zero to do with actual Irish culture.

Perhaps they have a point. But, I"m Irish and I tend to look for a silver lining. I say, if people want to be with friends and family today and tonight, and have a good time, and use my heritage as an excuse, I say we could much worse. There isn't a much more Irish tradition that family, than celebrating life with those you care about and finding some new friends while doing so.

So, drink up your beer and have a nice toast.
Cheer on St Patty 'til you fall
Get a headache and hangover to boast
Have a corned beef meal after all

For the Irish know life is short
and we tend to go a might far
In finding the proper port
As we try every corner bar

The wearin' of the green is fine
The kissin' of the Irish is good
I'll be chuggin' back mine
And enjoying some good Irish food.
