The 14th Annual Critics' Choice Awards

The Nominees (or most of them) are:

BEST PICTURE

  • Changeling (Didn't get to see it, was it really that good?)
  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (I can't wait to see this!)
  • The Dark Knight (This was great)
  • Doubt
  • Frost/Nixon
  • Milk (Gotta see it!)
  • The Reader (Never heard of it.)
  • Slumdog Millionaire (Sounds like a rapper.)
  • Wall-E (Please... no! It really wasn't that great. Really.)
  • The Wrestler (Really??)

BEST ACTOR

  • Clint Eastwood - Gran Torino
  • Richard Jenkins - The Visitor
  • Frank Langella - Frost/Nixon
  • Sean Penn - Milk (He'll win.)
  • Brad Pitt - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • Mickey Rourke - The Wrestler

BEST ACTRESS

  • Kate Beckinsale - Nothing But the Truth
  • Cate Blanchett - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (She'll win)
  • Anne Hathaway - Rachel Getting Married
  • Angelina Jolie - Changeling
  • Melissa Leo - Frozen River
  • Meryl Streep - Doubt

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

  • Josh Brolin - Milk
  • Robert Downey, Jr. - Tropic Thunder (He was AWESOME!!!)
  • James Franco - Milk (I am so in love with this guy right now.)
  • Philip Seymour Hoffman - Doubt
  • Heath Ledger - The Dark Knight (He'll probably win and he was FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC)

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS - I saw NONE of these movies. None. Wouldn't it be a riot if Marisa Tomei won though?? LOL!

  • Penelope Cruz - Vicky Cristina Barcelona
  • Viola Davis - Doubt
  • Vera Farmiga - Nothing But the Truth
  • Taraji P. Henson - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • Marisa Tomei - The Wrestler
  • Kate Winslet - The Reader
BEST ACTING ENSEMBLE
  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (My choice, though I haven't even seen it.)
  • The Dark Knight
  • Doubt
  • Milk
  • Rachel Getting Married
BEST DIRECTOR - Again, have only seen Dark Night here. Not by choice: I can't wait to catch Milk and Ben Button. I say Fincher for the win though. Or Van Sant. They've been waiting for Van Sant to come back with something this big/topical/political/dramatic. And he had Penn.
  • Danny Boyle - Slumdog Millionaire
  • David Fincher - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • Ron Howard - Frost/Nixon
  • Christopher Nolan - The Dark Knight
  • Gus Van Sant - Milk
BEST ANIMATED FEATURE - Why do they even bother? Seriously? They should give out a Pixar award every year. I actually liked Kung Fu Panda better, but Wall-E was about how we're all idiots and we're destroying the Earth because we're just not as enlightened as the writers of this flick. You know, the ones with homes all over the world that burn more energy in a year than I've consumed in my entire life. Wow, that was a rant!!!
  • Bolt
  • Kung Fu Panda
  • Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
  • Wall-E (It'll win.)
  • Waltz With Bashir
BEST ACTION MOVIE
  • The Dark Knight (No brainer... Batman for the win)
  • Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
  • Iron Man
  • Quantum of Solace
  • Wanted
BEST COMEDY MOVIE
  • Burn After Reading (This was a typical Coen brothers: love it or hate it. I loved it!)
  • Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Really? I really like the guy who was in this though. From Freaks and Geeks and now in How I Met Your Mother - truly under-appreciated series.)
  • Role Models
  • Tropic Thunder (YES!! WIN DAMN YOU! WIN!)
  • Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Woody Allen's movies get creepier every year.)

Comments

  1. My Metropolitan Studies professor just told us today that Slumdog Millionaire was the best movie she's ever seen, but it is possible she meant it in a metropolitan studies context :) But still, gotta see it I guess!
