A Chorus Line!

What a lucky girl I am.  After work, Dan and I are going to see A Chorus Line in Providence!!!  Woo hooo!  If you have never been to PPAC, you should really make the trip out.  The theatre is breathtakingly beautiful.  Its a Broadway circuit house, so you get Broadway shows without the drive to the city.  And the city itself has been reborn with great restaurants, shops, little pubs and art galleries.  I would love to spend a whole day there.

A few (okay, several) years ago we went to this drag queen brunch next door to the theatre.  A group of us went and there was this cabaret style show, our hostess was Ella Gant.  It was hysterical and if I remember correctly the food was good too.  We went to see a show afterwards and I cannot for the life of me remember what show we saw...  I remember Ella perfectly though.

The last time we went to see a show there, we saw Chita Rivera: the Dancer's Life.  Now, Chita is an aging dancer and her life story is something that tends to appeal to two groups of people:  gay men and old ladies.  Dan and I hit the bar before the show and then again at intermission.  The bartender was our age (fine - she was younger than us but whatever) and she was riot.  She was making up all these drinks and not charging us.  What could we do but help this young bartender find her signature drink??

When the curtain came down, there we were.... drunk and whooping and hollering, "GO CHITA!!!  WE LOVE YOU CHITA!!!  YOU GO GIRL!!!  CHITA! CHITA!"

We were the ONLY ones doing this.  We're going to tossed out of that place some nightA .  Its way to classy for us.
