New Beginnings Needs Your Help!

This is Casey the day he was rescued by New Beginnings. He was at a local shelter in quarantine for 10 days and was scheduled to be euthanized.

This is Casey just a few days later. Amazing what good food, great care
and a New Beginning can do!

As you probably know, I am a foster mom for New Beginnings Dog Rescue: a small, local, holistic and positive-training based rescue group. Currently in my care is Clara, a 7 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog. Clara was severely neglected and spent years tied to a chain while the collar around her neck became embedded into her skin. She bears the scars of the surgery needed to remove this collar. Clara is deaf and certainly would have been turned away by shelters. Right now, she is learning sign language, how to walk on a leash, how to ride in a car and how to play - something she had forgotten how to do. She has been with me for 3 months while we work with her and continue to search for that perfect, forever family. Clara's gentle nature and sweet demeanor have won the hearts of everyone who meets her.

Recently New Beginnings took in three dogs that ultimately would cost the rescue seriously in expenses. These dogs were taken from a "breeder". This local puppy mill kept their dogs in small, wire crates 24 hours a day. Their only release was for breeding purposes. Each of these dogs were inhumanely "de-barked" by having their vocal cords severed. Each dog is receiving major medical care and emotional healing. NBDR really needs your help. With the recent closing of the MSPCA in Springfield the number of dogs and cats that need fostering and care while small rescues try to find homes is going to rise dramatically.

What you may not know is that NBDR is entirely different from other rescues: it takes in dogs that other "no-kill" shelters turn away. The dogs that are deemed "unadoptable" by others find their way to New Beginnings. Many fostered dogs are given care medically and emotionally for months. Most of these dogs and cats would have euthanized by any other shelter, but with the care and commitment given to these discarded animals countless lives have been saved. I personally have seen aggressive, malnourished, and abused dogs literally come back to life and go on to make wonderful family dogs.

This is why I'm writing to you... this is the type of rescue that we can be PROUD of. This is what the small, local, and dedicated rescues do best to make this world a better place for all.

If you have even $5, $10... anything will help. If you can donate, you may make your donation directly to New Beginnings via PayPal here (you will need to scroll towards the bottom):

If you would rather donate items, the rescue could use:

Toys, chewies, grain-free dog food*, canned cat food* and dog food*, even gift certs for grocery stores or pet food places. I would be willing to pickup any donations this Saturday.

And of course, if you have ever considered fostering a homeless animal, NBDR is accepting applications. Its one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things you can do.

Or perhaps you might simply forward this message to your friends and family in the hopes that they contribute to this wonderful cause?

Thank you,

Jennifer

*NBDR is a holistic rescue and believes very much in high quality foods. If you would like to donate a bag of food, please email me and I will send you a list of the foods we feed the dogs and cats.
