There is an epidemic in our country.  I call it SCIGS.  Senior Citizen Internet Gullibility Syndrome.  It causes a great number of normal, intelligent, tax paying citizens over the age of 55 to believe anything that is in their inbox.  Attempts to remedy the situation by directing our beloved parents, grandparents, friends and relatives to snopes.com or pointing out obvious and plain facts are fruitless.

Examples of attempts by tech-savvy family members intervening in awe-struck, shocked responses to forwarded emails:

SCIGS Victim: I don't know, those photos look awfully real to me.

Interventionist:  Well, there is this program called Photoshop...

-and-

SCIGS Victime:  (wiping can of diet coke furiosly)

Interventionist:  There is no rat shit on that can.  I promise.
