Tick or Teet!

Seth and JP were hysterical. They would go up to the house, "Tick or Teet!" Investigate the candy bowl, accept said candy, "Kank You!" and then try to get into the house. Just walk right on in. It was so funny.

They did great until Seth got a little scared at this one particular house. Lots of jack o'lanterns, scary music, strobe light. From there on he was carried by my brother-in-law or his b-i-l (both named Dave). JP walked right up though and thought the whole thing was rather funny.

Danielle complained about it being the "worst Halloween EVER! IN MY LIFE!!" Why? Because her sister wasn't there and I wouldn't let her skip ahead alone.

Autumn was out with friends going trick or treating with them in her dad's neighborhood. We saw her on our ride over to drop off Happy Danielle. She looked old. She looked like a teenager and she was walking with her two neighbors down the street. From behind, she walks exactly the same as she did as a 3 year old. And for just a moment I saw her that way: Belle costume, gold shoes, tiara, candy bag in hand. Running with her little cousins through my old neighborhood. Cheeks pink from the cold wind rather than something out of her makeup bag. Brown hair curly and bouncy rather than straightened and rinsed with red Manic Panic. Her arms swinging now with a confidence and self assurance I didn't have until I was 30.

She's a good kid. I just hope she remembers that over the next few years. Teenagers are hard.
